Pastor Ed Newton, along with his family, relocated to Towanda, PA, in the summer of 2022. He joined the pastoral staff of Independent Baptist Church that same year, initially serving as the Pastor of Family Ministry, where he focused on families and student ministry. While he remains passionate about these areas, Pastor Ed now holds the position of Lead Pastor at Independent Baptist Church. His interests include traveling, engaging in outdoor activities, participating in sports, and spending quality time with his family.

Mike Shanks is our Pastor of Outreach and Music. From 2005 - 2022, Mike served in the areas of 7th-12th grade student ministries. Beginning in the fall of 2022 he shifted from working with the youth to his new position as Outreach Pastor. He enjoys playing piano, kayaking, playing with the kids, and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is married to Lisa, and they have three children. 

Derek and his family recently moved last Fall from Maryland to become the Pastor of Youth and Family ministries. Pastor DeCru's desire is to see strong families led by godly men impacting the church and community for the glory of Christ. Derek enjoys woodworking, competition, and ice cream. Derek and Sandy have three boys with two of them currently in college.
