What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Independent Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Bible

We believe the Holy Bible (66 books of canon), as originally written in the autographs, was verbally inspired and the product of Spirit-controlled men, and therefore is the absolute truth without any admixture of error in its content. We believe that we have a faithful representation of the originals in the legitimate translations that are available to us today. We accept a natural/literal interpretation and believe the Bible to be relevant for today as the only rule for what we believe and how we live.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
2 Peter 1:19-21

God the FAther

We believe there is one living and true God. He is the creator and supreme ruler of heaven and earth, glorious in holiness and alone worthy of our worship. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
Exodus 20:2-3
1 Corinthians 8:6
1 John 5:7
Revelation 4:11

God the Son

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit in a miraculous manner and was born of Mary, a virgin. He is both Son of God and God the Son, fully God and fully man. In taking upon Himself our nature, yet without sin, He honored the divine law by His obedience, and by His death made a full and substitutionary atonement for our sins. He is now in Heaven and is in every way qualified to be a compassionate and all-sufficient Savior.
Isaiah 7:14
Luke 1:27
John 1:14
John 1:29-37
Hebrews 4:15

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit was given to be a helper to the believer and the restrainer of evil. Upon accepting Christ as our Savior, He indwells us. He was the agent of our regeneration, and we are sealed by Him insuring our salvation.

The Devil/Satan

We believe in the personality of Satan, that he is the unholy god of this age, and the author of all the powers of evil and sin, and is destined to the judgment of an eternal justice in the Lake of Fire.
Matthew 4:1-3
2 Corinthians 4:4
Revelation 12:9
Revelation 20:10

The Act of Creation

We accept the Genesis account of creation being six literal twenty-four hour days and believe that man came by direct creation of God (and not by evolution).
Genesis 1 and 2
John 1:3
Colossians 1:16-17

The State of Man

We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of God, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state, the consequence being making all mankind sinners. Therefore, every man and woman born today is a depraved being in need of the sacrifice made for him by Jesus Christ coming to earth to be crucified. It is for this reason all mankind must be led by the Holy Spirit to the Father.
Genesis 3:1-6
Romans 1:18
Romans 1:32
Romans 3:10-19
Romans 5:12
Romans 5:19

The Salvation of Man

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly by grace apart from works; through the death and resurrection of the perfect “Lamb of GOD”, Jesus Christ, who substituted Himself for us by taking the penalty for our sins. This satisfied the demands of the Holy God, thus justifying the repentant sinner. We furthermore believe that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation.

The Local Church

We believe that a local church is a congregation of immersed believers, associated by covenant of faith and friendship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ (baptism by immersion and the Lord’s supper), governed by His laws, and exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its officers are Pastors and Deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures; and that the true mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men as we have opportunity. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government, free from the interference of a hierarchy of individuals or organizations; that its one and only superintendent is Christ, through the Holy Spirit; that it is Scriptural for true churches to co-operate with each other in the contending for the faith, and for the furtherance of the Gospel, with the realization that it is necessary to separate from apostasy; that each local church is the sole judge of the measures and action of its co-operation; and that on all matters of membership, of polity, of government, of discipline, of benevolence, the will of the local church is final.

Future Events
